Silvina Lanusse is a mixed media creative originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina now living in Parksville. Her work is inspired by animals and nature around her. Her painting begins the moment the first drop of colour falls on her substrate. It starts with a swirl, then another. Layers of pure colour dance in rhythm with textures. Her painting varies from colourful abstracts to whimsical stories. Organic strokes held together in a symphony of radiant paint bursting like her life tango.

VAL NELSON STUDIO

In quantum mechanics, it’s said that when an object is looked at, it is changed. I think the reverse is also true. The sustained observation and rendering of things in this world stir in me a deep sense of affection for my subjects; at times I feel my eye and brush are really touching them. This feels special. This feels important. I am changed, because I look. I am changed, because I make.
